Mayor's Themes Festival

Today I went to the the Mayor's Themes Festival.  I went early around noon.  I walked along the north bank of the river for a while, then I crossed over the bridge to the South Bank, and explored the festival market.  It was a little like Camden Market, but with more arts and crafts and kid friendly stuff.  They had food stalls from all different countries, but I didn't buy anything to eat.  I got a sample of whiskey.  I smelled it first and thought it smelled like beer or something, so I tried it.  It took me like five minutes to recover.  Good thing I wasn't just standing there in the middle of the sidewalk.  That stuff is powerful, I don't know why anyone would choose to drink it.  I did buy a scarf thing, and I got some free sour gummy candy, and hot sauce.

I came back to the flat for a few hours, and had my tea and a rest, then I went back.  I went with Debbie and Alyssa and we watched the parade part of the festival.  There were so many different costumes, it mostly felt like a fancy circus more than a parade.  I can't seem to find the right words to describe it, but I took some pictures, hopefully they will turn out alright.  I haven't looked at them yet, they are downstairs now and I don't want to go get them, so maybe I will add some later.  It turned pretty cold, but we stayed for the fireworks anyway.  There were a lot of them, like at least 4 at a time for like thirty minutes and most of the time there was a lot more.  It was a lot bigger show than I had seen before.  It was kind of weird seeing fireworks and it not being July.  I think this festival was supposed to celebrate the last days of summer.
