On Monday, my Understanding Modern Britain class went to The City. We met at Mansion House and went and looked at several buildings. We saw the Lord Mayor's house, and some building that looks like a cake. We saw how the modern buildings are popping up everywhere. During the Blitz, The City of London was basically destroyed, so there are not a lot of old buildings and such left. we did go and Look at the Guild Hall of London. It is a really cool restored Medieval building. We also went to see this Roman Temple that someone found underground and decided to move to street level between two modern office buildings. It seemed very out of place. We also saw the first indoor shopping mall, made to give people a nice place to do their trading business. After walking around, we went to look at the Museum of London. Basically they have all sorts of stuff about the history of the city from the time the Romans built the city of Londonium, to modern London. This includes Medieval London, and everything else like the fire, plague, and wars.
Later I went back to CAPA and I talked to Mom and Dad on skype. I also watched another episode of Dr. Who. I have looked up some Dr. Who sites in London, and really want to go find the Tardis in Earls Court. I heard that there is also a giant toy store somewhere, and they might have Dr. Who toys.
